In a compelling narrative, a woman endeavors to persuade law enforcement authorities of her account as a witness to a homicide. In a restless moment, Cheryl Draper, portrayed by Barbara Stanwyck, known for her role in Double Indemnity, observes a distressing incident where a young woman is asphyxiated in a nearby apartment. Promptly reporting the incident to the authorities, Cheryl's efforts are in vain as upon the police's arrival, the purported crime scene yields no evidence of foul play. Despite her earnest pleas, the officers dismiss her account, attributing it to a possible hallucination or dream. This film noir production showcases exceptional direction by Roy Rowland of The Girl Hunters fame, alongside masterful black-and-white cinematography by the renowned John Alton, celebrated for his work in He Walked by Night. Reminiscent of Alfred Hitchcock's Rear Window, released in close succession, this film is eclipsed by the latter's prominence.
