*New/Sealed*
Mel Gibson portrays the lead character in an all-star ensemble cast of William Shakespeare's most renowned tragedy, recounting the tale of the Danish prince Hamlet. In this film, Hamlet, played by Academy Award winner Mel Gibson (known for his roles in "Braveheart" and the "Lethal Weapon" films), returns to his homeland only to discover that his father, the King, recently passed away, and his mother, Gertrude (played by Glenn Close, known for "The Stepford Wives" and "Fatal Attraction"), has promptly married his uncle, Claudius (portrayed by Alan Bates from "Gosford Park"). Overwhelmed by shock and grief, the young prince is visited by the ghost of his father (played by Paul Scofield from "Quiz Show"), who claims to have been murdered by Claudius and seeks vengeance. Now Hamlet faces the formidable task of determining the truth behind this spectral account and deciding whether to carry out his father's wishes for revenge. He realizes, however, that his actions may lead to the destruction of Ophelia (portrayed by Helena Bonham Carter, known for "Corpse Bride" and "Howards End"), the woman he loves, as well as his own family and the kingdom he is destined to inherit."
