Justice League: Doom, a feature-length animated film from DC Universe, throws the League into battle against a group of supervillains determined to destroy them and humanity. Adding to the danger is a betrayal from within the League itself, by someone who knows their deepest fears and weaknesses. Loosely based on Mark Waid’s “Tower of Babel” storyline (part of which is included here as a digital comic), the film explores the psychological makeup of its heroes, though its brisk 75-minute runtime limits deeper dives into the moral and ethical fallout of the betrayal. The cast is filled with DC favorites—Superman (Tim Daly), Batman (Kevin Conroy), and Green Lantern (Nathan Fillion) on the side of good, and Vandal Savage (Phil Morris), Star Sapphire (Olivia D’Abo), and Mirror Master (Alexis Denisof) as their foes. There’s plenty of action, and the veteran voice cast handles it all with ease. For casual audiences, it’s a fun, fast-paced ride with familiar faces, but longtime fans of Waid’s original arc may find the streamlined story loses some of its emotional punch, much like DCU’s Batman: Year One.

The extras are also strong, led by the 36-minute documentary A League of One: The Dwayne McDuffie Story—a heartfelt tribute to the writer-producer whose passion for the DC universe shaped his acclaimed work on Justice League and beyond.
