Contained Within: None of the remaining members of the Beatles participated in the supplemental features of the DVD for A Hard Day's Night. However, there is an abundance of interviews with the surviving cast and crew members of the film, which provide a comprehensive and detailed account of their reminiscences. This compilation includes interviews with major and minor individuals involved in the production, such as director Richard Lester, musical director George Martin, publicists, friends of the Beatles, and other important personnel. The outcome is a vivid depiction of the British film production scene in the early 1960s, placing A Hard Day's Night in a rich historical and creative context that allows for a greater appreciation of its groundbreaking audacity. Of particular interest are the vintage clips from the British comedy series Steptoe and Son, paying homage to character actor Wilfrid Brambell (who portrayed Paul's "very clean" grandfather), as well as an interview with actor David Janson, who reminisces about Ringo's memorable "Ringo's Theme" sequence. The highlight, however, is the interview with Klaus Voorman, whose relationship with the Beatles dates back to their time in Hamburg in the early 1960s, before Beatlemania, and whose fond and vivid memories add a wonderful touch of personal nostalgia. Arguably, these and other interviews create a more fan-friendly portrayal than what could have been provided by the Beatles themselves. The Hard Day's Night DVD also offers an extensive range of OM features, including the original first draft screenplay by Alun Owen, as well as a comprehensive archive on the accompanying website. Thus, this DVD is certainly exceptional and far from ordinary. --Jeff Shannon Product Description In 1964, the Beatles burst onto the American scene with their debut on "The Ed Sullivan Show." A Hard Day's Night, the group's first full-length film, was also released during this time and provided fans with their first glimpse into a typical day in the life of the Beatles. The film not only established the Fab Four in the world of cinema but also served as an inspiration for the future development of music videos. The film features the following songs: I'll Cry Instead, A Hard Day's Night, I Should've Known Better, Can't Buy Me Love, If I Fell, And I Love Her, I'm Happy Just to Dance with You, Ringo's Theme (This Boy), Tell Me Why, Don't Bother Me, I Wanna Be Your Man, All My Lovin', She Loves You.
